Sporting Opportunities Isle of Wight
Sporting Opportunities Isle of Wight is a dedicated, independent sports charity providing training and competition for athletes with learning disabilities on the island.
As an officially accredited Special Olympics Great Britain program, we give our athletes access to local, regional, and national competitions across the country.
Our active membership on the Isle of Wight dates back to 1987.
While we began as a branch of Isle of Wight Special Olympics, we now operate as an independent charity, run entirely by experienced volunteers.
We currently offer organised training sessions in: Athletics, Table Tennis, Indoor Bowls, Swimming, Football, and Multisport and Fitness.

Our core belief is that everyone should have access to sport.
Regular training offers vital benefits, including improved communication, team skills, and expanded social opportunities, alongside increased fitness.
For those ready to compete, we ensure a level playing field through our regular competition pathway, allowing athletes to demonstrate their dedication and sporting skills.
If you'd like to get involved, whether as an athlete or a volunteer, we encourage you to contact us today.
